Our Story

The Mother Lode Scots is a non-profit organization located in the beautiful California Gold Rush area of Amador County.

We came into being in 1979, when a small group wanted to provide an organization where fellow Scots and those of Scottish descent could come together to stimulate, encourage, support, and sponsor activities which lead to the preservation of Scottish customs, traditions, and culture.

Although most of our members are located within Amador County, we are fortunate to have many from neighboring counties and across the U.S. as well.

In 2025 our 501(c)(3) - Mother Lode Scots Society was born.
